The Weekly Journal
Created for Renegade Nell. A newspaper with a large satirical illustration under the header 'Nell Jackson's family of Scoundrels' depicts the eponymous highway woman Nell/Nelly Jackson with her father, Sam Trotter.
The illustration captioned "Our hearts are Zealous for our Country's Ruin", depicts Nell and Trotter talking with demonic creatures on their backs. Trotter tells Jackson to "Steel, Lye and Stand to it", as she replies "I am thy faithfull daughter". The demon on his back advises "Except none, cheat all and shew no Remorse."
The article text reports that Trotter was caught and shot poaching on the estate of Lord Blancheford.
Published Monday 17 September 1705. The masthead contains two other woodcuts, one showing a postboy, the other a ship.
