Lord Blancheford, 3rd Baron Broadwater

Created for Renegade Nell. Funery hatchment of Lord Blancheford, 3rd Baron Broadwater. The Blancheford Coat of Arms is on the Dexter side (left to observer). Bleu celeste, a fess dancetty argent, between three cross crosslets of the same. The arms are surmounted by the coronet of a baron and a baron's helm.

Above this is the family crest, a talbotʼs head erased or. The arms of Lord Blancheford's late wife are on the Sinster side (right to the observer). Gules a bend or, between two trefoil of the last.

The background is painted black behind the arms of both deceased husband and deceased wife. The motto, chosen specially for the hatchment, reads 'OMNIA MORS POSCIT' (Death claims all things) and is from Senecca.

Funerary hatchments are depictions, within a black lozenge-shaped frame, of the heraldic achievement of deceased male members of the nobility and gentry. They were hung on the wall of a deceased person's house, and were later transferred to the parish church, often within the family chapel therein which appertained to the manor house.
